Texas Motor Speedway

There is a Nascar car race at the Texas Motor Speedway in north Fort Worth by W35 toward Oklahoma City about four miles from our home.

When we lived in Plano, Texas before moving to Fort Worth, I was so excited to find out that there was a big speedway when we drove by on SH114 north of our new home. The race occurs twice yearly on first weekend of April and November. During the racing weekend, the freeway get congested and SH114 is closed. The parking lot at nearby Walmart at Roanoke is PACKED with RV's, cars and trailers, and trucks. I see the racing fans with Nascar t-shirts, baseball caps and jackets packing their carts with beers, ice packs and some new coolers. There are some trucks with some BBQ grills in the back. There are some peddlers selling racing t-shirts and jackets at the Shell gas station on the corner by W35 and SH114.
We didn't buy tickets to watch the race. We rather watch it on TV. When the race is done, it will take you four hours to get out. Fans who camp out at the race leave on Monday morning. We watched them get into the congested freeway. One of the races had been delayed one day last year for two hour after the thunderstorm with tornado warning. Fans went inside the buildings during the warning. My mom's cousin Renee who saw the speedway last fall before stopping by to visit with us said that her daughter a Nascar fan would have gone to the race if she was in the town and so does my sister in law's little brother Bob who watched the Las Vegas race.
