Dick had taught the deaf students how to make dentures, crowns and bridges, etc for 20 years at the Southwest Colligate Institute for the Deaf in Big Spring, Texas starting in 1982. Before that, he worked as a dental lab technican for seven dentists in Spokane, WA for 20 years before he accept an offer to take a teaching job at SWCID. He retired on May 2001.
